Blue Mingoli: Standard Bank readies for Lira show

With only a week to go before South Africa’s award winning afro-pop musician Lira jets in for the inaugural Blue Mingoli concert in Lilongwe, the organizers Standard Bank say they are putting final touches to what promises to be a spectacular show.

Head of Marketing Thoko said the bank is looking forward to Blue Mingoli becoming an unforgettable part of pop culture history in Malawi.

“Preparations are at an advanced stage. We are looking forward to a great show with Lira and Lulu. Blue Mingoli seeks to establish itself as a part of music concert history in Malawi,” said Thoko Unyolo, the bank’s head of marketing.

Unyolo said there has been a rush for tickets and that the advance ticket sales plan was on target. She attributed the positive response to the 50 percent ‘Early Bird’ discount offer which the bank was running for customers and the general public.

“The VVIP and VIP tickets are sold out, but regular tickets have reverted the original pricing of K15,000 following the close of our discount offer window,” she said. The 50 percent discount offer elapsed on October 14th.

Lira, real name Lerato Malapo is an 11-times South African Music Award winning queen of Afro-jazz, soul and funk music.

She retains the highest ratings in popular African contemporary music and has six albums to her credit, the latest being her 2014 release, ‘Rise Again.
