The Roman Catholic Church in Malawi and the Marist Brothers announce the death of
Zomba Catholic Secondary School – well known as ‘Box 2 ‘ -was on Wednesday hit by sad news of the death of its headmaster Brother Vincent Chunga.
Catholic church and Marists Brothers confirmed to Nyasa Times about the death.
Brother Nicholas Banda, who is the Provincial Councilor of Marists Brothers, said the late Brother Chunga passed
away early morning on Wednesday in Zomba after battling with Liver Cancer since late last year 2012.
Late Chunga has been undergoing chemotherapy at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital till Tuesday,
May 6th 2013) when he was discharged from the sixth session, according to the Marists Brothers.
He was born on 4th May, 1964 and hailed from Chiwungeunge Village, St Theresa at Katete Parish in Mzimba District.
Chunga made his first vows on 28th July 1993 and served as a brother in many schools in
Malawi and in Kenya (Marist International Centre) since then.
Burial of the late brother Chunga will be on Friday, 10th May 2013 in Mtendere ( Marist Secondary School) starting with a Requiem mass at 9:30am.
On Thursday, Roman Catholic faithful will view the body of the late brother Chunga from 9:00am to 10:00 am at Zomba Cathedral before a funeral mass.
After the funeral mass, the remains of brother Chunga will depart for Mtendere campus where it will be laid to rest.
