Boy with albinism missing in Phalombe, police make five arrests

The issue of abducting people with Albinism has resurfaced in the country following the missing of an albino boy in Phalombe.

Southern Region Police Spokesperson Ramsy Mushani has confirmed that they are in search of the missing boy.

Mushani said so far, they have arrested five suspects in connection to the case while one is still at large.

“We are making progress. We have arrested five while one is at large” he said.

The incident happens as Malawians are still waiting for the outcome of the Commission of Inquiry which was previously instituted to identify the market of albino bones.

Association of People Living with Albinism (APAM) recently asked President Chakwera to address challenges albino’s are facing in the country including construction of good houses for security.

During the 2019 campaign, Chakwera promised to end abduction and killing of albino’s within a period of a month.
