Britam donates K3 million to Insurance Institute Malawi

More companies are coming in to donate money to the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) ahead of their conference slated for 28-30 October in Mangochi with Britam being the latest.

CEO Grant Mwenechanya

Britam becomes one of the 30 insurance companies as they donated K3 million on Thursday at their head offices in Blantyre towards the event.

Britam’s CEO Grant Mwenechanya told the media after presenting the dummy cheque that the gesture is a sign that they value the role of the institute where the firm is a member.

“Expectations are high that members will discuss issues that will uplift operations of the industry in view of Covid-19 effects,” he said.

Mwenechanya assured the organisation that Britam will remain a major partner considering that, that is where they tap well regulated expertise for their operations.

At the event, IIM President Masauko Malaicha expressed happiness that Britam had decided to donate towards the conference again.

Malaicha said: “Almost 30 companies, which are members of the institute have been kind enough towards the event financially for the event to take place.”

Recently, Old Mutual also pumped in the same amount of money with a call for insurers to continue supporting the institute.
