One of Nyasa Big Bullets reknowned supporters Beleti Severe famously called ‘Billy 1’ has apologized for his involvement in a scenario and alleged beating up of Principal Secretary for Labour, Youth, Sports and Man-Power Development Sam Madula.
The incident happened on 2nd January 2017 during the second leg of a Luso TV Bus Ipite Bonanza match involving Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers played at the newly built Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
The incident happened when the PS was trying to stop Billy 1 and other Bullets fans from entering the VIP section.
The PS was left injured on his upper left eye.
The fan was later arrested by Police and spent two nights in custody before appearing in court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was represented by Private Practising Lawayer Shadreck Mhango.
He was later granted bail after paying a K10,000 bail bond with a non-cash of 200,000 bond with Bullets second Vice Chairman Austin Kasito as his surety.
But in an interview with Zodiak Radio TNM Soccer Show on Monday Night, Billy 1 said he regrets his
involvement and apologized to the P.S and the entire football fraternity.
“I am sincerely apologizing to the P.S and the nation at large and I am saying this from the deep down of my heart” said Billy 1.
“It was just an accident and it is a mistake that will never happen again” he added.
He went further to advise all supporters to desist from acts of violence and always have limits in their actions at football matches.
After the incident, Nyasa Big Bullets through Secretary for Board of Trustees Jim Kalua promised that as a club, they will hand Billy 1 a stiff punishment as a warning to other would be offenders.
Kalua emphasized that as a club they do not “condone violence”.
