Madeira: Carlsberg Cup is for Nomads
The two teams are set to meet again on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium in what is regarded as “battle of battles” in the finals of the Carlsberg Cup.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides in the same competition since its introduction with Wanderers winning in the recent meeting.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash, Team Managers for both clubs have already began spitting fire.
Steve Madeira for Wanderers told Nyasa Times that the Cup belongs to Lali Lubani and that they are ready to safeguard it come Saturday.
“We know Bullets are looking forward to snatch what belongs to us. We got married to the Carlsberg Cup and we are not ready yet to surrender it to anyone. Their Coach (Elia Kananji) knows that the Cup is very safe in our hands and some credit goes to him having helped us in the past two seasons,” said Madeira.
Reacting to Madeira”s claims, James Chilapondwa for Bullets said they know where to hit Wanderers where it pains most and Saturday is pay back time for the damage inflicted on them in the previous Carlsberg Cup final.
“Their win in 2015 was not genuine. We know where we went wrong and we are ready to revenge. We are playing as a unit now and do hope to punish them for their deeds come Saturday,” said Chilapondwa.
Meanwhile, ahead of the finals on Saturday, Carlsberg Malawi Limited says they will be distributing entry tickets to lucky customers in some selected Carlsberg selling points.
Senior Brands Manager for Carlsberg Twikale Chirwa confirmed the development claiming the 2017 Carlsberg cup final’s will be more unique with the country’s top football clubs meeting.
“The 2017 Carlsberg Cup final is unique in a sense that Bullets and Wanderers are meeting. These are the country’s top clubs and their meeting come with a lot of pomp. As Carlsberg, we will also spoil our fans by distributing over 500 free entry tickets to lucky customers,” he said.
Both Bullets and Wanderers will be welcoming back their players who were with the Malawi National Football team in Morocco for a series of international friendly matches.
