According to posts on his Facebook page, the billionaire prophet gave a grand arrival, appearing in a yellow helicopter branded ‘Happy Birthday Major 1.”

The celebration also attracted a number of public figures including his spiritual father Uebert Angel based in UK,  Nigerian actor  “Akina Ukwa” Osita Iheme, South Africa’s Prophet Keke and Prince Lindani of Swaziland.

Malawi’s top gospel singers Mlaka Maliro, Ethel Kamwendo and Thocco Katimba were also spotted at the birthday celebration.

Pitch of the ceremony was when Prophet Shepherd Bushiri announced the adoption of two South African orphanages, giving to them R300 thousand each (about MK12 million), spending a total of R600 thousand (about MK24 million).

Bushiri also pledged to build houses for the two orphanages that are sheltering poor kids.

The ‘Major 1’ has lately involved himself in humanitarian work, a result that saw him donating maize in Malawi in the districts of Zomba, Karonga, Dowa and the cities of Mzuzu and Lilongwe, spending millions of Kwachas.

In Malawi, his quest to reach out to the poor has been met with mixed reactions with others alleging that he is eying the hot seat of ”Presidency’ in 2019.

However, Bushiri has constantly and confidently refuted the assertion, saying standing for a presidential seat would be “demotion” to him for he is above presidents materially.

His Public Relations Officer Kelvin Sulugwe spoke to Nyasa Times saying the man of God is simply “a prophet with a heart to help.”

“Prophet Shepherd Bushiri helps a lot of people, it’s just a pity that the media pays a blind eye to such projects but only rushes to report negatives.

“If it was in Malawi, the gesture he has done today to the two orphanages would have been met with so many false and negative reports. If it is about scoring political points, should we also assume that he wants to contest here in South Africa? People should simply accept that fact he is a man of God taking a leading role in doing good works,” explained Sulugwe, speaking from South Africa.
