Candidates asked to undergo psych-social lessons before watershed elections
A Mzuzu-based Psych-Social Counsellor Walker Gondwe has pleaded with politicians in the country to undergo psych-social lessons prior to the 2019 watershed tripartite elections scheduled for 21st May 2019.
Gondwe told Zodiak Radio on Wednesday that the lessons are aimed at equipping the politicians to accept the outcome of the elections.
He said this will help in avoiding unnecessary illness or death that come as a result of shock after the announcement of the election results.
In 2014, there were reports that some politicians suffered heart attacks and other committed suicide in disbelief with the electoral results.
Social psychology is the scientific study of how people’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors are influenced by the actual, imagined or implied presence of others.
Social psychologists typically explain human behavior as a result of the interaction of mental states and social situations.
They examine factors that cause behaviors to unfold in a given way in the presence of others.
