The company’s sales and marketing manager Dennis Bvalani made the pledge in Blantyre on Wednesday when Candlex hosted the team at its Makata offices.

The team led by Helen Mpinganjira, coach Peace Kaluwa and other players went to thank the company for the sponsorship given to them when they were traveling to Mzuzu for the Airtel Money Netball Trophy finals.

Tigresses asked the company to assist them with fuel for their trip to the northern region and Candlex responded by providing 250 litres of diesel.

Tigresses went on to defend the K360 million trophy after beating Blue Eagles Sisters from Lilongwe and went back home K7 million richer.

Bvalani said as Candlex they are always proud to be associated with winners and when Tigresses approached them for assistance they   knew they   had to assist a winner.

“We are very happy that they won and we’re proud that our help didn’t go in vain. We would like to engage more in teams that are doing well because that’s our way of giving back to the community, they are our customers and we shall continue giving back to them,” Bvalani said.

While indicating that his company has been assisting the national netball team and various clubs before, Bvalani added: “We have been supporting different sporting activities and we will continue doing so with winners such as Tigresses”.

Apart from the fuel funding, Candlex Limited also provided the team with three types of branded T-shirts which Complex Tigresses wore during the three-day tournament in Mzuzu.

Tigresses manager Hellen Mpinganjira, said Candlex’ assistance was not only a morale boost to the team but came in when they had nowhere to run.

“We went ahead to defend the trophy because they came in when we were in dire need of help to make it to Mzuzu and back. We owe it to them and we’re proud that we won that’s why we had to come and say ‘thank you’. We hope the door will still be open,” said Mpinganjira.

Mpinganjira also appealed for more support from Candlex.

Tigresses have now won all but one competition they participated in since last year. They won the inaugural Airtel Money Championship, the Rainbow Paints Netball Series, the GOtv Netball Championships and the Presidential Championships, but lost the 2014 OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) to Diamonds.
