Catholic priest killed in car crash
Catholic priest Fr. Paul Mayeso who was a priestly secretary of Bishop of Chikwawa Diocese has died in a road accident.
Fr. Mayeso was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital on April 21 having been involved in a tragic road accident on the Chikwawa- Blantyre Road as he was travelling to the funeral of late president Bingu wa Mutharika.
Episcopal Conference of Malawi confirmed the death of Fr. Mayeso.
According to the statement, Mayeso was born on 21st March, 1979 and hailed from Mpino village, T/A Mphuka in Thyolo district and was ordained priest on 14th August, 2007.
He served in the following places: St. Michael’s Cathedral (from 15 August 2007 to 2 January
2008), Mzimu Woyera Minor Seminary (from 3 January 2008 until 16 August 2010), and his last place of service was The Bishop’s House (from 17 August 2010 to 21 April 2012) as Bishop’s Secretary and
Treasurer.
Burial was on Tuesday at St. Michael’s Cathedral – Chikwawa.
