Cease from being slaves of sin and become slaves of God
The problem that most children of God have is that there is no commitment to fully depend on God. I wonder when people are doing things not of God, there is full commitment to do those things yet when it is time for God; He gets to get only 5 percent of our attention.
Romans 6:17-18 tells us to thank God that we were servants of sin but we have been made free from sin therefore became the servants of righteousness. If we have become servants of righteousness, then we should give God the undivided attention in the same way it was with the things of the world before we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. As Children of God we are expected to fully submit to God in all aspects of our lives.
I have seen many people who remember God in times of trouble yet when all is well they are too occupied with earthly things. Yes He has promised to answer and bless us just as Psalm 91:14-15 tells us that “Because he has loved me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him”. If you look the beginning of these two verses you will notice that He is referring to those that have completely put all their trust In Him alone meaning that they have put all their trust in God alone.
The Bible tells us in Mathew 6:24 that “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other”. It is therefore either total devotion to God, or ultimately it will be total devotion to the world. You do not want to be of the world, but to be of God for we were created to praise and worship Him alone as our God is a jealousy God therefore will not share His glory with none.
Paul referred as a slave of Jesus Christ because He was no longer of the world but willing to die for the sake of preaching the word of God even to the Gentiles (Romans 1:1). This is what we all should be when it comes to things of God. We have to be ready to sacrifice everything else just to let God move in all areas of our lives. Our God is faithfully who is able to see deep down our hearts and reward those that are faithful to Him accordingly.
Cindy, if we were in college, your piece of work would be regards as Christianity 101 (immature)! Because any concept or belief system the demands one full submission, and expects no questions, is inherently EVIL! the biggest flaw with Christianity is that it promises rewards to its adherents, something we know (not believe) is complete nonsense!
