Chakwera back from Qatar, set to visit cyclone Freddy survivors

President Lazarus Chakwera says he is saddened by the loss of life following the devastating tropical storm cyclone Freddy which has since claimed 190 lives.
Chakwera said this at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on arrival from Qatar where he attended the United Nations summit of Least Developed Countries.
He further proceeded to South Africa where he “carried out a number of bilateral engagements, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I am keen to go see for myself what has happened and it is one of those things that we look for help not just from people and partners but God himself,” he said.
Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda said President Chakwera will visit Clcyclone Freddy survivors in Blantyre on Wednesday.
He said this at Naotcha Primary School Evacuation Camp in Blantyre
Chimwendo Banda was accompanied by Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe, Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, Minister of Defence Harry Mkandawire, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia and Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima.
