Chakwera, Nyusi to Launch Region 5 Games 

Minister of Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda has handed over a torch to Mayor of Lilongwe City Councillor Richard Banda.
Handing over the torch, Chimwendo Banda said Lilongwe will benefit in terms of business.
The minister announced that President Lazarus Chakwera and Mozambique President Fillipe Nyusi will be launching the games today at the magnificent Bingu International Convention Centre.
Receiving the torch, Lilongwe City Mayor Richard Banda urged Malawians resident in Lilongwe to go in their large number and witness the launch. The Mayor said security has been put in place to ensure all residents are safe as well as the athletics.
Chimwendo said the region 5 games are so crucial because will help to bring forex in the country.
Chimwendo said People in Restaurant businesses , car hires, and those doing business in accommodation will benefit and the country will benefit as well.
According to Chimwendo, through these games, Government of Malawi has bankrolled construction of a World Class Aquatic Complex that will be able to host any international competition. And this will be part of sport’s contribution towards tourism in the process bringing in the much needed foreign currency.
Chimwendo hinted that these games will lead to improvement of competition facilities such as CIVO Stadium and CIVO community sports Centre and also the games has directly led to upgrading of other facilities such as the LUANAR hostels.
The games have led to human capital development through training of over 400 technical officials who will thereafter raise the Malawi flag higher by officiating at other major international competitions
The African Union Region 5 Games are so crucial to the country and that Malawi is expected to realise at least US$2 million (almost MK2.3 billion).
Companies will also benefit on product placements, client recruitment, and new product or service introduction.
With the games in Malawi, companies will have an access to over 100, 000 physical spectators with opportunity to benefit from media exposure as well as entrenching brand amongst youth to create life time brand loyalty and generation of qualified business leads for partners.
