Chakwera touts himself as ‘visionary, decent leader’ that Malawi needs
Malawi Congress Party (MCP)President Dr. Lazarous Chakwera has advised the electorate to choose leaders who have vision and the people’s aspirations at heart.
Chakwera on a southern region tour made the remarks on Thursday at Marka in Nsanje where he addressed whistke-stop meetings.
He urged Malawians to use May 20 vote to usher into office visionary leaders with fresh ideas.
“Malawi needs men of integrity, able, visionary ,” he said, touting himself to have that credentials.
Chakwera said only when the country has credible leaders that prioritize the welfare of the citizens can the nation develop and boast of proper economic growth.
The MCP president urged Malawians to vote for him in this year’s elections as the Head of State.
And speaking during the main rally he conducted at Nchalo trading centre in Chikhwawa on Wednesday, MCP leader said his party would bring back sanity in the management of public resources and achieve food security.
But before conducted the main rally the MCP leader conducted a whistle stop tours in the area of chief Makhwuwira and Chapananga in the district to sell himself to the electorates.
Chakwera said time has come for Malawians to deal away with corrupt leaders who always work for personal benefits.
“It is pathetic that the country is listed as one of the poorest countries yet Malawi attained its independence 50 years ago. Time has come for us to deal away with corrupt leaders,” he said.
He promised the voters that once he is ushered into the office his party is ready to develop the country by creating job opportunities and make sure that all civil servants are paid in time.
On his part group village headman Chapepa who is under Paramount Chief Lundu said he is hopeful that Malawians would see the need to elect a “genuine God fearing and trustworthy leader” to transform the country.
