Chanco elects new students executive

Chancellor College (Chanco), a constituent college of the University of Malawi, Friday held elections which ushered in a new executive that is going to man the Students Union of Chancellor College (SUCC) in the next year.

Frank Chidampamba and Ellen Grace were elected president and vice president respectively in the elections described as “highly contested.”

Chidampamba told Chanco Live that he was more than ready to propel the college to excellence.

He takes over from Chipulumutso Asabuni whose most visible role was fighting for an increase in the up-keep allowances for the students. The issue is still being hotly discussed.

But Chanco Live reported Asabuni “failed in almost everything, and was not there to attend to students’ burning issues.”

Others elected include Morton Sibale as Speaker, Nyokase Madise as General Secretary and Reseby Makawa as Treasurer.

Kondwani Njikho is the new Director of Publications while Andrew Kankuzi was elected Academic Affairs Director.
