The college opens its doors after its indefinite closure in March over a wrangle on disparities of salaries within the UNIMA setup

“The college will have a double cohort of first years; those selected in 2016 (and who attended orientation in March, 2017) and those selected in 2017 (and have not attended orientation),” reads part of the statement from the college.

According to the release, orientation of first year generic students selected in 2017 will be done on 10 June, 2017, while the beginning of classes for both first years and all continuing students is scheduled for 17July, 2017.

The communiqué further states that third year students and forth year students for Bachelors of Arts in Human Resource Management are expected to start classes on 21 July, 2017, adding that all third year students in Bachelors of Communication and Cultural Studies, mature entry selected in 2016 and 2017 will commence their classes on 7 July, 2017.

Recently, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika dissolved the UNIMA Council amidst a standoff between the council and academic staff unions.

A new council has since been appointed by the president.
