Malawi national team and Escom United winger Ndaziona Chatsalira has all the reasons to smile after passing the first phase of his trials at South African outfit SuperSport United understands.

Chatsalira who was in the rainbow nation last week for the one week trials impressed head coach Gavin Hunt and was told to return so that the coach has more time to properly assess him.

The player’s manager Kondi Msungama told reporters that there were nine players attending the trials at Matsansantsa but the number has been trimmed to three and Chatsalira is shortlisted.

“If he has been considered for the second phase of the trials, it means he impressed and I am hopeful that they will eventually sign him.” he said.

Chatsalira: Close to sign

Arrangements are being made that Chatsalira should return to South Africa after Malawi’s 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Tunisia in September.

The Escom United playmaker is rated as one of Malawi’s hottest young prospects and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Atusaye Nyondo, who joined SuperSport recently and scored in his debut.

The former PSL champions are hoping to see some of the flair and talent which saw Chatsalira awarded the Player of the Month award for July in the Malawi ‘s flagship TNM Super League.
