China donates rice to Malawi families hit by hunger
The government of the Peoples’ Republic of China donated 6,553 bags of rice to be distributed to some family households affected by hunger in Dowa district.

Briefing the full council meeting held at the Boma Thursday, Dowa District Commissioner, Fannie Msimuko, said the donation will be made through the World Vision International at a date to be communicated to registered beneficiaries.
She said the donation will go to Traditional Authorities (T/As) Chiwere, Mkukula, Chakhaza and Dzoole, the areas where World Vision International is also implementing food and cash humanitarian support to the affected families hit by hunger in the district.
T/A Kayembe lamented that the free food distribution exercise is sidelining the people of his area.
Over 6.5 million Malawians have been hit by the extreme hunger and are in need of humanitarian food support.
6000 metric tonnes of rice will be distributed to 271,266 households in 16 districts out of the 24 districts affected in the country.
