Chinoko appointed Hivos director, resigns as Danchurchaid Malawi coordinator

Danchurchaid Malawi’s Programme coordinator, Dr Peter Chinoko has resigned from his current position and has since been appointed Programme Development Manager for Women Empowerment with a Netherlands based Hivos.

Apart from being the Hivos Malawi leader, Chinoko will also be running the similar programmes in eight countries, namely; Malawi, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and Kenya.

In an interview with NyasaTimes, Chinoko said his appointment  will put Malawi on the map.

“Am very grateful, my appointment borders mainly at uplifting status of women in the said countries,” said Chinoko.

In an appointment letter which Nyasa Times has seen, the contract signed is for a one year and;  “May or may not be renewed depending on various circumstances including but not limited to performance, availability of funding, restructuring of the organisation or for serious misconduct.

According to the signed by Hivos Regional Director, Tanja Lubber, some of  Chinoko responsibilities include coordinating women empowerment programme and its further development and resource mobilisationin southern Africa.

Chinoko will also be responsible for coordinating implementation of women empowered for Leadership and women at work programme in Southern Africa.

He has also been given a task of reporting to the donors of the overall programme from Southern Africa region.

Chinoko has been given a task to train 200 community leaders in Iran to promote and and support women candidates during the 2017 polls.

He is also expected to spearhead support of women participation in Jordan by spearheading the media advocacy.

The Malawi Hivos will also be expected according to the TORs, to train 50 journalists in Malawi to be able to write gender sensitive articles.

Chinoko has previously worked at CCJP for 11 years.

He graduated at Chancellor College in Bachelor of arts in education. From there, Chinoko enrolled at Portifical urban University in Rome for BA programme in Sunnacun Laude Missiology.

Chinoko later went to University of Derby in UK where he graduated with Master of Strategic Management before going back at Exploits University for PHD programme in Business Administration.

Hivos is a Netherlands financing body which was opened by in order to reduce inequalities based on social status, politics, religion, ethnicity, sex or sex orientation.

The programme is a top priority for Netherlands Government which will run from 2016-2020 as one way of complementing Netherlands’s International gender policy.

Hivos thematic areas include combating violence against women , participation by women in Politics, and making women to be self reliant economically.

zoona bambowa asiye atsikana, mmutu amachita kupaka go black to look young. madala kasamaleni ana anu ndi dzidzukulu think if your daughter is being treated in such way you do kwa ana anzanu hence u have been in for front saying u help help girls to go back to school or empowering women…. does it mean in sexing them?
Look behind and see mwasiya ana angati oti u dont take care of them. Go back to your past and solve the innocent souls.
