Speaking during the function, Chisomo Children’s Club Executive Director, Charles Gwengwe urged corporate world, government and individuals to think of people in the peri-urban areas.

Gwengwe said his organisation considered to distribute maize after research done last year had revealed that most children trek into streets after being driven by lack of food.

“What is happening is that most children trek into streets due to several factors and some children go there because they have no food in their households,” said Gwengwe.

According to Gwengwe, the donation intends to benefit more than 500 households.

In her remarks, GVH Tongole, commended Chisomo Children’s Club for the donation which has been made possible with funding from a United States based Missionary and business man, Allan Stader.

Stader came into limelight in 2002 when he embarked on roofing of churches and school blocks in the City of Lilongwe.
