Chiumia cleared in K13.6m case: Malawi Sports Minister delighted
In a case Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Grace Chiumia was accused of duping Mwiza Mkandawire K13 647 237, lawyers have agreed to scrap off the minister who was principal defendant.
Both lawyers for Mkandawire and Chiumia agreed to clear Chiumia from the litigation as she signed the sale agreement of a lodge and facilitated some of the payments.
Chiumia said she was “delighted” that her name has been cleared.
“All along I have maintained my innocence in this matter. I am delighted to be vindicated,” she said.
Chiumia’s lawyer, Patrick Ngwira, said the minister will not sue for defamation as both parties have signed consent that there should be no lawsuits arising from this.
