The civil servants expect to receive their salaries by the 27 day of every month, but mostly they are paid late.

This time around, the workers will enter the month of July without getting their June salaries.

Treasury spokesperson Nations Msowoya confirmed the delay in paying the salaries of the civil servants and said it was due to end of financial year processes such as closing of financial books and preparations for the 2015/16 financial year. Government’s financial year ends on June 30.

Msowoya appealed to civil servants not to panic.

“We apologise for the delays, but everything will be perfected this week,” he said.
