Civo Stadium to host FISD Cup final

People from the Central Region can consider themselves lucky as they will be the first to witness the first Cup final for the newly introduced K45 Million Foundation for Irrigation and Sustainable Development (FISD) Challenge Cup.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) who are the organizaers of the competition officially announced on Wednesday that the cup final for the competition will be played on 10th December 2016 at the Civo Stadium in the Capital, Lilongwe.

The organizing committee has also announced dates and venues for the simifinal games.

According to a statement released Wednesday and made available to Nyasa Times, the first semifinal between Silver Strikers and Kamuzu Barracks will be played at the Silver Stadium on 19th November 2016.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers will play at home at the Kamuzu Stadium on the 20th November 2016 against Blue Eagles FC in the second semifinal match.

The winner of the two semi final matches will battle it out in a cup final where the winner is expected to take home K10 Million prize money.

Wanderers demolished Northern Region Football League side Zolozolo FC 8-0 to reach the semifinals while Blue Eagles beat a non-league side Tiakalulu FC 2-0.

Kamuzu Barracks survived a Master Security Southern Region Football League Division 1 side Nsanama FC 1-0 while Silver Strikers beat fellow TNM Super League side Dwangwa United by the same goal margin.
