Civo’s Zoya not joining Blue Eagles

Civo United defender Emmanuel Zoya has made a dramatic u turn on his plans to join Police side Blue Eagles after taking a huge amount of thought.

The Eagles, who are struggling in the TNM Super League despite boasting of stars in their side, are in a serious hunt for players to beef up their squad. The team earlier this week fired some members of the technical panel including assistant coach Audrey Makonyola alongside other players like Godfrey Banda and Lawrence Mwehiwa for poor performance.

Zoya was among the players that they targetted for recruitment to help the team. Blue Eagles chairman Elijah Kachikuwo told reporters that negotiations were on going with the player and his team Civo.

Zoya: Sticks to Civo

But Zoya made a u turn on Monday saying he is not going anywhere.

“I was indeed approached by Blue Eagles but after giving it a good thought, I have decided to remain at Civo,” he said.

Kachikuwo however expressed surprise with the change of heart when contacted later.

“I haven’t heard from the plyer about the u turn and we will wait until we gather more information on the issue,” he said.

Civo’s General Secretary Owen Malijani told reporters that he got an sms from Zoya saying he wants to remain with Civo.

“He sent me a text telling me that he wants to remain here and iam yet to talk to him. Am sure he talked to coach Alex Masanjala about it and may be that’s why he has thought otherwise,”Malijani said.
