Clash of the titans at Chez Ntemba as Blantyre musicians date Lilongwe

It will be a clash of the titans in Lilongwe this weekend as top Blantyre-based urban musicians will on Saturday night be performing at Chez Ntemba night club.

Dubbed ‘Clash of the titans’ and powered by Cre8tive Entertainment, the show will feature a selection of urban artists whose music is currently dominating airplay in the country.

From the commercial city Blantyre will be the ‘Unamata’ star Piksy, hip-hop artist BarryOne and dancehall maestro Blakjak famed for his purported controversial songs such as ‘Wadya’ and ‘Indetu’, while Lilongwe will be represented by Gwamba of the ‘Sindingasiye Bawa’ fame.

Manning the decks will be Malawi’s representative DJ at the last Big Brother Africa Stargame, Deejay Malick of FM 101 radio.

The DJ, who is behind the Cre8tive Entertainment movement, said the show is one of the shows that have been organised to provide nothing but maximum fun to Malawians through local urban music.

“We have hip-hop, dancehall and a fusion of rap, R&B and pasada, giving the people a wide selection of modern music, with artists of the moment coming together at one night club, one big city and one big night,” said Malick.

He added: “This is a rare night out for Lilongwe fans, mainly because shows like these don’t usually happen, having a lot of artist urban music artist, mostly based in Blantyre performing on one night.”

BarryOne, who has three new singles out, off his upcoming album ‘Footprints’, also said this was one show which urban music lovers in Lilongwe cannot afford to miss.

“Every one of us is more than ready. The performances will be splendid as these artists have been so exposed in terms of performances, so people should expect nothing but more fun.”

The rapper, real name Barry Mkorongo said he will also dish out his latest tracks namely ‘Ma Langwan’ featuring Piksy, ‘Automatic’ featuring Kalista and ‘Kapilire’ featuring Maskal.

And representing the L-city, Gwamba said he was very ready for the show as he wants to thank Lilongwe for their full support to his music career with a massive performance.

Gwamba has taken the urban music scene by storm with his Chichewa rap songs, which have also won him a one-year renewable record deal with a newly established record company, SOC Media Group, based in Blantyre.

Apart from the musicians, fun-seekers will also be entertained through their favourite local and international modern music played by Deejay Malick and Deejay Maya from Chez Ntemba plus other resident DJs from the club.
