Former convicted armed robber Clive Macholowe has died, Nyasa Times has learnt.
Macholowe, who suffered stroke in 2005, died on Friday. His young brother Felix Macholowe confirmed.
“Yes Clive is dead,” Felix Macholowe told Nyasa Times.
He described Clive as an “extraordinary brother” and that “he will never be forgotten”.
Macholowe’s UK based daughter a model, Malaika Macholowe paid tribute to her father on Facebook Friday evening.
“Rest in eternal peace father. Clive Macholowe. You weren’t always there but I know you would have gone to hell and back. Love you and will miss you,” she wrote.
Macholowe, who was convicted in 1997 for robbing Thyolo Branch National Bank and Blantyre District Education Office, died a God-fearing man.
He had reformed since his release from Prison.
Macholowe was released on August 18 after serving his time. He was briefly pardoned in 2004 during Bakili Muluzi’s reign, but was re-arrested when the late president Bingu wa Mutharika assumed office.
