Coach Makawa ponders over role of assistant to Mpulula at EPAC FC
Former EPAC FC coach Abas Makawa has said he is considering his appointment as assistant coach for the team.
Makawa was picked by Epac U management alongside outspoken Leo Mpulula at the start of the seaosn.
But Mpulula advised Epac management that he would choose his assistant and backroom staff himself and started the league three weeks ago with no assistant coach.
“All I can say is that I cannot just rush to make decision. I was appointed while I was away attending CAF A Licence in Blantyre,” Makawa said.
“I need to look at the conditions before deciding whether to accept it or not.”
Mpulula said he was convinced that Makawa, who led the team from the lower league to Malawi’s top league, would be of great assistance to Epac.
“He is a good coach and I know that he can manage to handle the team while I am away,” Mpulula said.
Mpulula made the dramatic U-turn ahead of a month-long CAF A Licence coaching course second intake at Chiwembe Technical Development Centre to be held in Blantyre.
Epac fired Makawa at the end of last 2013 season on what the former Chairman and sponsor Dean Josiah Banda said he was failing to meet the target.
Last year the team recruited Audrey Makonyola who failed h to inspire the team and were in danger of relegation.
so is this an issue to talk about. are you sure someone can be appointed without his concert?
