Coach Msakakuona thankful to God, fans for Blue Eagles cup glory

Victorious Blue Eagles coach Deklerk Msakakuona said he is thankful to God for guiding him to lead his charges into winning the first silverware after a drought of 16 years and promised the Malawi Police club that this marks the beginning of good things to come.

Eagles defeated Moyale Barracks 2-1 on Sunday to win in the capital Lilongwe to claim Standard Bank Knockout Cup and cart home a K5 million kwacha pay cheque.

Msakakuona: Thank God

“God has really shown us his greatness, I thank him for this victory,” Msakakuona told Nyasa Times.

“Moyale is a good team, on our own we couldn’t defeat them but it is God who has helped us,” said the coach.

He also commended the team’s supporters for giving them the vocal and morale boost.

“We thank the fans for being behind us in this cup and we promise them for more to come this is the beginning,” Eagles coach said.

The coach said he would want to build on the glory of Standard Bank Cup but turning Eagles into a force to reckon with.
