Code Sangala to cerebrate solo career with debut album

In 2003, Code Sangala and his brother Shadre, took the country by storm with the hit single Kundirande in the duo Kapirintiya. 10 years on, he is ready to take the world with his debut album featuring the hit single remix Ndiwe.

Now trading as C.O, the artist who has always brushed allegations that he broke away from Kapirintiya is currently putting together his debut solo album which is to be released in September, 2013.

To be titled ‘Solo’, the album is contemporary and has some afro dance and jazz fusion with a touch of R&B and soft rock.

“The album is a celebration of me in many ways and artistically as a whole. Contrary to the controversial hype, this is just me taking my time off Kapirintiya and just doing my thing,” said C.O of his upcoming album.

The artist, whose previous hit song Bwenzi Langa was once featured on BBCs Focus on Africa further disclosed that his album will feature both local and international artists.

Ghanaian poet, Chrystal Tetey, has been featured on a song titled Linda Madzi. Also, expected to record a track with C.O is Dice.

“However, a few other collaborations are coming through. One is with Third Eye on a track titled ‘When You Go Away’ and also one with Marko Sadik on a track Kumazoore.

Just like many other local artists trying to take their music to recognition onto the international level, C.O said it was the same in his case.

He told the reporter of his plans with his master piece Ndiwe remix music video; a piece he did with youngster Pixy currently uploaded on YouTube.

“The original version of the song was phenomenal and I do not expect anything less on the remix.

“I have plans to take the video onto the international platform. There is a station in Angola that is looking for content and it is among other obvious TV stations I intend to send the video to.

However, much details will be provided in due time,” said the former Malawi’s Big Brother house representative.
