Convention to unite party, no more factional talks –UDF

All is set for the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) convention slated for October 30, 2012 and that there will be no round table discussion on factional feuding, the party secretary general Kennedy Makwangwala has said.

Makwangwala said the convention will unite the party that started disintegrating soon after its founding leader and former president Bakili Muluzi stepped down as its chairperson in 2010.

UDF secretary general said the party convention organizing committee headed by Lillian Patel is meeting on Wednesday to review the progress of the indaba.

Makwangwala: UDF convention will decide

“UDF convention organizing committee meets on Wednesday to review the progress,” said Makwangwala.

He said there will be no round table talks on factional feuding; saying the party leaders from grassroot level to executive will meet at the convention.

UDF’s convention comes two months after People’s Party held its indaba in August 2012.

Malawi’s next presidential elections will take place in 20.
