Cosmos angry with delay on Mwafulirwa’s clearance

South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Jomo Cosmos is reported to have lost their patience with the delay by the Foreign Affairs ministry in South Africa in releasing the papers to register Malawi’s international striker Russell Mwafulirwa.

According to reports carried out by South Africa’s leading sports magazine Soccer Laduma, the Malawian international signed with Ezenkosi in January, but he is unable to play for the side as he is still waiting for the paperwork to be completed.

The paper reports that Cosmos are attempting to register the Mwafulirwa as a local player since he had been in the country for more than five years before he moved to Sweden.

Mwafulirwa: Stuck

“We did the paperwork long ago and submitted everything at the department of Home Affairs in Pretoria but we don’t know what’s dragging,” Cosmos spokesperson Lucky Mhlathe is quoted by Soccer Laduma.

Mwafulirwa’s break to competitive football has also costed him a lot as he was dropped from the national squad ahead of the Afcon qualifying match against Chad.

Cosmos believes the player can serve the club from being relegated from the PSL and move to a better position.

If the delay by the South Africa Home affairs ministry continues, Mwafulirwa’s impact will not count much as he will play minimal games.
