Head of Sales and Marketing Linly Lipipa  appealed  to the administration of the league to be “accountable and transparent for us to continue sponsoring the cup.”

She said:“We would like to sponsor the cup until 2017 but that will depend on the financial management because it doesn’t mean that we have a lot of money but we are interesting in helping the development of football in the country.”

Lipipa also advised the league to guard against acts of hooliganism.

“We don’t want our brand to be associated with violence so I would like to appeal to you to ensure that the cup is run in the true spirit of fairplay and sportsmanship,” she said.

SRFA Chairperson Raphael Humba said they would ensure that every penny is put to good use.

“We know what it means to get such a sponsor. It can take just minute to lose a sponsor but years to get one such as these. Therefore we will ensure that the cup is run in the interest of the sponsors,” Humba said.

Countrywide unveiled K8 million sponsorship barely four days after the sponsorship-starved league secured a landmark league sponsorship from Nsenjjere Sports Gear owned by a Malawian based in US.
