Kachikuwo: Confirmed the arrest

Senior magistrate Patrick Chirwa said on Friday Vincent Nyondo, Elijah John Kachikuwo and Wilson Chatema have a case to answer on money laundering cases, abuse of office and other offences.

They are accused of preparing payment of K45 million from the police and the police paid the money to Classic Motors but the goods or services were not provided to the police.

The three suspects were senior police officers in the finance department and were responsible for payment of police obligations.

Owner of Classic Motors Francis Mkwamba is also answering the cashgate charges.

Kachikuwo was arrested in 2012 for another K400 million cashgate and was suspended but his suspension was lifted later and transferred to Mangochi Police Station.
