Dan Lu performs in South Africa
He was billed as one of the acts to curtain-close Chez Ntemba International Club’s dance competition finals, but his conspicuous absence later revealed that the country’s Afro-pop artist, Dan Lu is in South Africa for a series of shows.
Dan Lu was among the Nde’feyo entertainment constant three, Maskal, Nthumwi Pixy and Armstrong who were enlisted to spice-up what turned-out to be a fantastic grand dance contest finale for imbibers at Chaz last Saturday night.
In an interview with Nyasa Times, Dan Lu disclosed that he was currently in South Africa where he is performing with his band, Rockers.
“I left for South Africa by plane Saturday morning but my boys had already left on Thursday. I couldn’t resist an opportunity to perform outside Malawi. It is a chance for me to explore international audience while taking Malawi music to international stardom,” he explained.
Dan Lu’s performance in South Africa came barely two week after renowned local artists Lucius Banda and Lulu together with Zembani Band mesmerized South Africans with their dexterity.
However, the 2011 Malawi Music Award winner was not sure on how long they would be in the foreign land, saying there were a couple of invitations for performances.
“Over the weekend we performed in Johannesburg and there are several gigs for us through out this week. I want to take this moment to see if I can strike a deal to market my music right here,” he added.
Dan Lu is currently one of the top four urban musicians making it big following the release of his forth album last year, which has a hit song Part of Life that propels Lufani to the glory than expected.
