DD Sunshine senior crowned champions Central Region league
DD Sunshine Senior Women’s Football club on Saturday were crowned champions of the K5 million Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika Central Region women’s football League when they displayed a five star performance.
DD played their last two games of the season on Saturday morning and afternoon at the Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
In the morning, the team beat Kamuzu Barracks 19-0 before whacking Nkhotakota 18-0 later in the afternoon.
The leading scorer Linda Kasenda, who has managed to bang in over 90 goals, applauded fellow players for their dedication and hard working spirit.
Her Coach, Shadeck Chikhosi, commended his players for a great performance.
“Our squad is just amazing; it is full of talent, dedication and passion. You have seen how we have played in the league expect the same in other competitions,” said Chikhosi.
DD Sunshine have had 14 straight wins in the competition while DD Junior coming second with 30 points from 12 games.
Abramo sister has also finished its games of the season accumulating 30 points from a possible 42.
The champions will receive K300, 000, runners up K150, 000, while those on number 3 and 4 will pocket K100, 00 and K30, 000 respectively.
Top goal scorer and player of the tournament will receive K20, 000.00 respectively.
