Decomposed body found in river ‘suspicious’
The decomposed body of a man was found in a Limbe river in Blantyre and police are treating the death as suspicious.
Pangani Chibaba, who was working as a security guard at DG neighbourhood, was found dead and his decomposed body lying in the river on Friday October28.
He was coming from the populous Bangwe Township in the Commercial City of Blantyre before meeting his fate.
Relatives said he went missing on October 21 and that a sister to the deceased received a phone call on Friday a dead body lying in the river that was suspected to be of her missing brother.
The sister ruled out suicide, saying his brother was strong-willed that he could not take away his life.
“He could not commit suicide. I suspect foul play,” said the grief stricken sister.
The deceased’s long time friend Chipiliro Namanya who is a business man at Limbe Market also brushed aside suggestions that the deceased committed suicide.
“I strongly believe he was murdered and thrown in a river,” said Namanya.
Police southern region spokesman Davie Chingwalu said they treating Chibaba’s death as “suspicious” and are appealing for anyone who may have information or knows anything leading to how he died to come forward.
