Defrauding Malawi lawyer Kammayani denied bail: Remanded at Maula Prison

Lawyer Chrispine Kammayani, who has been on the run for one and half years following a K10 million fraud case on his head, has been denied bail.

The Lilongwe magistrates court on Monday denied bail to the lawyer fearing he might run away from the long arm of the law.

Kammayani is accused of fraud of K10 million after he transacted for sale of a plot in Area 47, Lilongwe but the whole transaction was fraudulent and the client lost all his money.

After the fraudulent transaction, Kammayani run away and only reappeared a few days ago.

The police whisked him away to Maula Prison in Lilongwe soon after the ruling where he will be awaiting the start of his case.

The court is yet to set date for the case.

There is a civil case out of Mzuzu in which a Foreign Investor built a beautiful Cafe’ in Nkhata Bay. The Investor was tricked by The Lands Officer in the NB Office and a Malawian. The Lands Officer then retired.. Before retirement he placed the Investors development plans in the name of the Malawian and assisted the Malawian to apply for a lease of the land using the Foreign Investotors development plans as his own even photos of the structures. The American Investor discovered their plan and filed a High Court Case in 2011 to protect his investment from theft… Read more »
