Diamonds start GoTV title defence against Tigresses

GoTV netball tournament  champions Kukoma Diamonds will start its campaign of defending the cup against their old rivals Tigresses
in what is going to be a cracker and a match to watch  during the first round of the 2017 competition which is expected to take place at
Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) this weekend from SaturdaySunday.

Diamonds players set for GoTV tournament

Kukoma Diamonds became the last team to win GoTV  Netball Champions League in 2015 after beating the Lilongwe netball giants Blue Eagles Sisters with 38 basket to 28.

Last year the competition did not take place because the netball calendar was very tight with events.

But the competition is back again this year with a total of eight teams taking part in a three rounds battle which is going to be played
in a Fast5 format.

Kukoma Diamonds and Tigresses match will be the first game to be played during the launch of the competition.

Diamonds Vice coach Noel Mussa told the Nyasa Times that they are well prepared and ready to defend the cup.

“I can confirm that we’ve done everything possible to make sure that we continue from where we stopped in 2015 as well as 2017. But by saying this I don’t mean that it will just be walk over for us to win the cup because we know that other teams have also prepared, but I have confidence that by the end of the competition our players will make us smile again,” said Mussa.

The full fixture of the matches to be played at BYC on Saturday is as follows;

Tigresses VS Kukoma Diamonds 11:00 AM

Thunder Queens  VS Mafco Soldiers 11:45 AM

Blue Eagles Sisters VS Lameck Queens 12:30PM

Civonets VS Mimosa 13:15PM

Lameck Queens VS Kukoma Diamonds 15:00PM

Mimosa VS Mafco Soldiers 15:45PM

Blue Eagles Sisters VS Civonets  16:30PM

Tigresses VS Thunder Queens 17:15PM

Sunday fixture will be released after the  Saturday matches.

The second round of the competition will be played at from September
16-17 at Katoto Secondary School ground in Mzuzu whereas the final
round is expected to take place at Don Bosco in Lilongwe from
September 30- October 1 2017.
