DPP cadet  in for robbery, malicious damage: UTM’s Ngalande reported incident to police

Malawi Police Service  in Thyolo have arrested Mavuto Kunsowa in connection with the robbery and malicious damage to a minibus hired by UTM Party youth at Mangunda (Protofeeds office) a day before the June 23 fresh presidential election.

UTM Director of Security Lewis Ngalande reported the matter to law enforcement agencies, according to spokesperson for Thyolo Polcie Station, Amos Tione.

Ngalande is reported to have sent a group of UTM youth members to verify availability of the party’s monitors around Thyolo polling centers.

The members were moving around in a white hired Toyota Hiace minibus Reg number RU 7949 driven by Christopher Emmanuel, 27.

At around 2 am, they were travelling from Luchenza to Thyolo where they had booked for accomodation and upon passing Kamponji Estate they were overtaken by two unregistered land cruisers that stopped in front of their vehicle.

Then about 15 unknown criminals armed with panga knives jumped out of the cruisers and attacked some of the members including the driver who was wounded on the forehead head and sustained a deep cut.

Kunsowa, 35, is from Chiusile Village in Traditional Authority Mpando in Ntcheu.

Three others, Austin Muthanje, Andrew Ngwangwa, Patrick Naluso sustained minor injuries.

The criminals also robbed Ngwangwa of his two ITEL cell phones and K20,000 from his pocket, they also set ablaze their minibus

Ngalande has also been named by the commission of inquiry as a prime suspect for the murder of Chasowa
He needs to be in prison by now

If the police claim to be fair, they should also follow up with the incident that happened in Dowa but I know they will not act because fingers will point to their minister Chimwendo Banda.
