DPP Cadets in fear-mongering on President Mutharika’s nominations

With just a few hours before President Peter Mutharika was to present his nomination papers for the watershed May 21 elections,  tension  has been high in Blantyre with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets armed with panga knives display politics of fear-mongering.

DPP politics of fear

The DPP cadets are armed to teeth in preparation for their presidential candidate who will be presenting his nomination papers at Comesa Hall in Blantyre Friday.

DPP violent behavior as evidenced by the picture where a cadet is putting a panga knife in its nest with impunity, has sent shockwaves to Blantyre residents with schools suspending classes today.

Although the party has denied that it does not involve itself in violence,  the behavior of their cadets reveals the contrary.

Recently some DPP cadets assaulted UTM party supporters in Mangochi undressing a woman supporter in the process. They also assaulted Malawi Congress Party (MCP) supporter Edward Govati in Blantyte.

Angry Malawians have expressed their disgust with the impunity being displayed by the DPP on social media.

” These guys are presenting nomination papers today and why are they carrying pangas to this event?” wondered one Mike Phiri.

Another commentator said perhaps DPP is biding farewell to the people as a ruling party.

“You cant have a ruling party which sends shivers to its people when it wants to hold a function in town. These guys are bidding us farewell, we can not vote them back in May with this impunity, ” commented Kondwani Masankhula.

Other social commentators said there is no serious leadership in DPP and that is why everyone does whatever they want.

“If these people had a strong leader who was against violence, these cadets would not have been doing this,” said one Gamaliel Chizika.

  1. The President clearly lacks the authority to control these DPP cadets. They have no place in a democratic Malawi and the DPP will suffer at the polls in May.

  2. DPP Boma ilooooo! Munya muona simunati. ….. Akulu akulu Malawi ndi dziko lathu ndipo sitingalore kuti ma cadet azitisowetsa mtendere. Lets do what we did in 1994, to show them that we have powers to unseat presidents and make another to be the leader. God’s Eye is Watching them as the handwriting is seen on the wall.

  5. Fear of what? Its likely that these boys are from the disgruntled opposition in a disparate attempt to soil DPP and in turn improve their advantage after discovering that they they are not as popular as they thought and that they are heading for a eminent defeat. Mwanena za corruption koma nothing has changed. Mwanena za nepotism and haven’t waived DPP support. Pano mwayamba self inflicted harm ngati aneneri a Baala but even this tactic will not too. 3. Tanena za corruption ndipo something has changed in other areas except kwainu Anguru!!! Change is there to those with ears except the Ngurus without ears because they are part of evil

      1. Thank you Katong’ongo for your attitude toward ngurus. Ngurus are human beings with no ears but can lead those with ears. who is evil?

  6. Party of blood and death . May the almighty God rescue Malawi from these vipres masquerading as politicians.. We need Holy Ghost fire to burn them.
    Agents of death.

      1. Foolish “Citizen”, you mean if I wear today MCP or UTM t-shirt and (and commit crimes) then automatically I became MCP or UTM supporter? This is being shallow minded. Anyone anywhere and anytime can find and wear these clothes, you fool. DPP is in no danger in this city and at this time, ask yourself, why carrying a panga? It doesn’t sound realistic. This is done by enemies of DPP and is doing more harm to themselves (backfiring) as they are showing their desperation. They thought they are popular but now they are discovering the reality.

    1. Pangas are not alien to DPP. Only DPP cadets can be big headed to display their weapons while the police look the other way. This is not the first time they have done this in Blantyre. Their masters had the audacity to ferry them in DPP’s vehicles. Is it not some months ago that another cadet had the nerve to display a pistol?

    2. You know them by their works. How will you know that someone is suffering from malaria? Answer: signs and symptoms. Signs and symptoms of DPP disease = zikwanje, blue etc.
