The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) using intimidation tactics to stop main opposition Malawi Congrss Party ( MCP) address a rally in Balaka on Saturday failed.
DPP operatives through Balaka Primary School teachers tried to block MCP leader Lazarous Chakwera from addressing the rally at the place.
MCP elected the podium Friday after all permission had already been granted for the rally but on Saturday some people told the party that the meeting should not proceed.
The opposition party officials were defiant and proceeded to conduct their rally which was addressed by party president Chakwera.along side seasoned politicians who included Sidik Mia, Ken Kandodo , Wakuda Kamanga, Halima Saudi, and scores of MCP Members of Parliament.
