DPP lawmakers Kalirani, Kaliati ‘lack moral ground’ on beds saga

DPP Vice President Jean Kalirani and Direrctor of Women Patricia Kaliati lack moral grounds to be voice of Central Region over the Mponela beds saga, Reverend Mphatso Gama of Pentecoast Assemblies in Mponela has said.

The clergy said the revelations that Kalirani abused office as Health Minister to oversupply her constituency hospital with beds over the district hospital makes her wild claim of beds being to Mzimba redundant.

Reverend  Gama said he was ashamed that as a professed christian Kalirani could not wish to share with others.

“I went to the Hospital and what I found out was that there are 21 beds in the stores lying idle. Are we sure Malawians should be fighting each other when some have more and others less. I will pray for them,” said the clergy.

Some Chiefs from Central Region questioned how could Kalirani embarrass herself by stopping people from sharing resources.

On Kaliati, another Chief from Lilongwe said she was better keeping her mouth shut than reminding Malawians how she degraded them.

“She reminded us in Central Region how she justified the movement of the University and the stadium from Central Region. I would suggest that she shut up,” said Senior Group Malitata from TA Dzoole area.

Kaliyati and Kalirani have been on the forefront mobilising MPs to protest yet the matter is within the mandate of Health Committee of Parliament.
