More resignations continue to rock the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as secretary general Wakuda Kamnaga made public his resignation.
“I have resigned as DPP secretary general and withdrawn my membership from the party,” said Kamanga.
Kamanga made the announcement at the official residence of the country’s Vice President Khumbo Kachali on Friday evening during a news conference.
He also announced he has joined the governing People’s Party led by President Joyce Banda.
Kamanga said: “ I am happy to quit DPP and join PP.”
He was flanked by Malawi Vice President Khumbo Kachali, and PP second vice president Sidik Mia , PP Central Province Chair Kizito Ngwembe and PP First Deputy National Campaign Director, Zikhale Ng’oma, when he announced his joining PP
Former finance minister Dr Goodall Gondwe is the harbinger of DPP’s apparent demise following his unceremonious departure from the party.
“It high time we stop politics of backbiting, I ave come to a point where I decided to do politics for the good of the people. PP is there to uplift the lives of people not just politicki. If I had the powers I would have said let’s stop politics and uplift te lives of people,” said Kamanga.
He asked people in his former party to reflect on what they did in the past, Kamanga said the DPP did somethings right and others wrong.
“I am comparing between the two, serving the nation and positions in a party. I find that serving people is better than positions,” said Kamanga.
The country’s Vice President who is also the Vice President of PP described Kamanga as an asset as far as politics in Malawi is concerned.
He said Kamanga has joined PP after appreciating the vision the President Joyce Banda has.
“Wakuda is not new on the political scene, he will help us. We know what he has done in DPP and we know what he can do in PP.. In politics you do not move with position from party A to party B. He will be doing something in PP aswell.” Kachali told the media.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
