Thousands of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters are calling for return to State House of Ben Phiri who 18 months ago resigned as Presidential aide on personal grounds.
The DPP cadets are also calling for the return of President Mutharika’s nephew Chimwemwe Kajawo who served as late Bingu wa Mutharika’s errand boy.
Before his resignation Phiri served as Special Assistant and senior advisor to President Arthur Peter Mutharika in the formative months of his leadership.
He resigned to allow people who were accusing him of corruption to bring forward evidence to Anti Corruption Bureau. However, to date there is no one who has given any information or hint on the accusations.
It is this lack of evidence of any corrupt traits that has forced party supporters to ask for his return to State House where he worked tirelessly to defend the interests of the regime.
“We want Ben Phiri back at State House. Since he left the President has been surrounded by opportunists who do not have DPP interests at heart. Ben knows DPP inside out and understands what outcomes President Mutharika wants from the party. We want also Chimwemwe Kajawo to be close to his uncle president Mutharika,” a senior party member told this publication.
Prior to 2014 elections Phiri was ‘Field Marshal’ for the party, a role that made him one of the most wanted people by People Party (PP) thugs who were in government then.
A brave man that he is, Ben helped the party strategize on winning the election as an opposition party. The DPP managed to unseat PP at the 2014 polls.
During campaign Phiri was beaten and left for dead by PP thugs led by Lemani Chapitapita who apprehended him from Mount Soche Hotel and dumped him somewhere in Naperi.
Many believe his return will galvanize the youth who tirelessly worked under his leadership in mobilizing votes for the party.
During his recess from the political front, Phiri has been dedicated his time to his personal businesses and serving God at Cavalry Family Church.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
