DPP’s Malunga promises ‘integrity committee’ to manage constituency funds

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for Chikhwawa South Sailos Malunga has promised the people to establish integrity committee to oversee the operations of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Local Development Fund (LDF) once he is elected as parliamentarian for the area.

Malunga said this when he donated assorted school materials to Chimpambana Primary School in the area of Senior Chief Ngabu in the district on Saturday.

He then conducted a developmental rally at Chimpambana Primary School Ground which was graced by DPP Southern Regional Youth Director, Yona Mlotha and his Regional Organising Secretary Henry Matemba.

Malunga said he wants LDF and CDF to be used in developing Chikhwawa South Constituency as he said the constituency is one of the least developed areas in the district.

“I will make sure that Chikhwawa South constituency should have an integrity committee comprising of 10 people to manage LDF and CDF.  This committee will make sure that these two funds should be used for its intended purposes and benefit the people of my constituency,” he said.

He said the integrity committee shall accommodate different people such as academicians, faith-based and traditional leaders to identify the areas where these two basket funds should be channeled.

The aspiring parliamentarian urged his followers to vote for him and DPP President, Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika if they want their children to have bright future.

He said he was shocked to see the constituency not being developed since the dawn of multiparty democracy and he promised the people to have electricity once he is elected as MP for the area.

In his remarks Group Village Headman Chimpambana hailed Malunga for donating two bags of cement, four black boards, 10 plastic chairs, netballs and footballs, wall watch, 500 plates and spoons for the school feeding programme at Chimpambana Primary School.

Chimpambana said the school has few teachers’ houses and school blocks hence some classes are still learning under the trees.

“People of my area have already started benefiting from the works of your hands and the ball is in their hands for them to make right decision on May 20, 2014,” said Chimpambana.

He said this simply shows that Malunga is visionary and developmental oriented leader who can bring meaningful development projects in Chikhwawa South.
