E-ticketing platform launches in Malawi, its Nyasa Tickets
Buying and selling of various tickets in Malawi has now been streamlined following the establishment of an electronic ticketing system.
The platform, operating under the name NyasaTickets, is engineered by a local IT company, Sky Payments.
The firm will be sellinge-tickets for companies and events in the arts &culture, sports, entertainment, hotel, tourism and travel industries.
“We’ve been working on the system since last year, perfecting it for both the users and event producers and businesses.
“Now it’s fully functional locally, while the international features will be put up by February,” Celina Nayagam, NyasaTickets product& marketing manager disclosed in an interview.
According to Nayagam, anybody with access to the internet can now purchase tickets for local products and services using mobile banking or visa cards.
“Being an online based system, location and time is not a factor as tickets are purchased off the [NyasaTickets] website using Airtel Money,” she indicated. “It is that simple.”
To purchase a ticket, consumers simply press the buy ticket button on the site and fill in their details which include name, email and quantity.
Apart from purchasing tickets, users may also browse the site just to see what is happening, what is new and keep up with events, hotels and tourism.
According to Nayagam, NyasaTickets does not have a service fee but takes commission on each ticket sold.
She went on to indicate that the advantage of NyasaTickets was that it provides better accessibility and promotional benefits for promoters and businesses that use the system as their virtual tickets outlet.
Currently, physical locations distributing NyasaTickets include the Post Office, Shoprite and CrossroadsBusiness Centre in Lilongwe, while Liberty Liquor Store has the system at their Blantyre and Mangochi shops.
NyasaTickets is expected to become a full ticketing distribution platform once all system features and collaborations with physical outlets around the nation are finalized.
