The end! Malawi U-17 exit Cosafa after Zambia defeat
Malawi Under 17 national football team’s dream of reaching the final stage have been shuttered after losing 2-0 to neighbours Zambia on Friday.
The Junior Flames have themselves to blame for letting in two quick goals in the opening 10 minutes of the first half.
They however reorganised and regain their impressive form showcased in previous games at the tournament midway into the first half.
This means that the youthful Chipolopolo boys will face winners bewween South Africa and hosts Mauritius who are meeting Friday
afternoon in the final.
The Junior Flames were deemed one of the favourites to win the tournament following their hundred percent start and clean record at
this year’s edition.
They beat Botswana 2-0 in the opening match before thumping Zimbabwe5-0 and finally another 2-0 win over Mauritius.
Junior Flames last won the tournament in 2001 when they hosted the tournament
and finished third at last year’s tournament.
Bravo boys you made us proud. Keep this team and give it enough international exposure. At least it was may be fatigue or waneba saw our weak spot and capitalised on it. Otherwise the winning streak was very very impressive.
Malawi cannot beat zambia what come may even at junior level.
