Epac United have cracked its whip on coach Leo Mpulula suspending him for among other hot issues poor start to the season.
The club’s General Secretary Obed Tatsunda Banda said Mpulula was suspended with effect from 1 June after posting poor results in the first six games the team has played so far in the TNM Super League.
Assistant coach, who is the team’s former coach Abbas Makawa has also been appointed caretaker coach until final decision is made on the Mpulula’s future.
“It is very true that we have suspended the coach with immediate effect because we have just accumulated five points from the six games we have played,” Tatsunda Banda said.
“The coach is failing to deliver and we will see the way forward.”
Tatsunda Banda defended the team’s lack of patience when deciding to take the action against the coach.
“What was in the contract was upon the performance of the team but as of now as you are aware that the team is not performing well so we have decided to give suspension pending investigations,” he said.
“Abbas Makawa will be caretaker of the team until we think otherwise.”
Mpulula said he was not aware of the suspension because he hasn’t received any communication.
“I haven’t been communicated to. I have talked to the chairman there’s nothing I have been told,” Mpulula said.
“It’s a surprise because technically we were supposed to sit down as a committee to find out the reasons why the team is not doing well.”
He distanced himself from being the only problem behind the team’s poor start to the season.
“So if the team is not performing it’s not only because of Leo there are so many reasons.”
Epac are already languishing in the relegation zone together with Surestream second bottom and Civo United at the rock bottom of the table after playing six games winning once, drawing twice and lost three times and have five points.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
