Escom, Bingu Tigresses clash in OG Issa final match

Netball giants Escom Sisters will Sunday clash with stubborn Bingu Tigresses in a grudge encounter in the finals of the OG Issa Southern Netball League scheduled for Blantyre Youth Centre to decide the title winner.

The battle between the two Blantyre based out-fits has already been preceded by fierce rivalry as both teams claim to be better than the other.

The hatred between the two sides took a new twist this year when Bingu Tigresses tussled with Escom during the finals of the Presidential Cup in Mzuzu.

Tigresses were adamant to allow Escom Sisters Australian based evergreen shooter Mwawi  ‘Professor’ Kumwenda to feature during the finals. It took almost an hour for the two sides to agree after exchanging of words.

Sundays encounter will be an interesting one because both sides have a chance to be crowned as champions.

Escom is leading the log table with 45 points while Bingu Tigresses is chasing them closely with 43 points but Tigresses have a better goal aggregate.

Escom Sisters coach Griffin ‘Zagalo’ Saenda said Escom would like to continue from where they stopped when they beat Tigresses in Mzuzu.

“We want to show our superiority over them. Our preparations are going on well so far and we do not have any injuries,” said Saenda.

Saenda will bank his hopes on Kumwenda, Towera ‘Pincord’ Vinkhumbo, Caroline ‘Ayuda’ Ngwira, Bridget Kumwenda and Jessica ‘Agogo’ Mazengera to add strength to the side in their pursuit to defend their title.

Tigresses’ assistant coach Charles Mhango has vowed to silence Escom by grabbing the trophy in their hands.

“We have a mission to accomplish and l can assure all Tigresses fans to come in their large numbers because come Sunday we will silence Escom. We have the whole squad and no injuries so far,” said Mhango.
