Escom coach says ‘we’ll beat the drop’

Escom United coach, Charles Manda is confident his side will not drop rapidly from the TNM Super League assuring fans that there is no need to press the panic button despite being stuck on the bottom table.

The Electricians, who have two points from five games, are yet to secure any victory raising fear to their fans that their team might be heading to relegation zone this season.

However, Manda told Nyasa Times that it was too early to judge them, as the league has just kicked off.

“It is too early for people to think that our side will be stuck on the bottom table for ever. All what we need is to win two or three matches in order to step out from the relegation zone,” said Manda.

Since, the ouster of more than ten experienced players, the electricians kicked off the 2012-2013 season on a bumpy note.

Manda said the club will be training at a very high level with “a positive atmosphere”.

“I am convinced we have got the players and many games ahead of us that we can get ourselves out of this position we are in,” he said.

Meanwhile, the capital city giants, Silver Strikers still tops the summit table of the league with 12 points having played five games while Red Lions, who are yet to lose any game are coming second with 11 points from five games.

After beating their rivals 2-1, Mighty Wanderers are basking on third slot with11 points from six games, with the area 3 side, Civo United chasing them closely on fourth place having amassed 11 points from six games.

Big Bullets, who are still bitter with last Sunday’s lose, are on fifth place with 10 points from six games, while Azam Tigers are on their neck with the same number of points from six games.

Kamuzu Barracks are occupying the seventh slot from seven games after collecting 8 points followed by Kabwafu United with 7 points from four games.

Team of the moment, Blantyre United are comfortably on position nine with 7 points from six games the same as Mafco FC. The Salima based soldiers have 7 points from six games as well.

Moyale Barracks are on eleventh place with 6 points from five games with the area 30 cops, Blue Eagles on their back having collected 5 points from four games.

Epac FC are occupying position 13 with 5 points from seven games, while Bvumbwe Research are behind them after managing 4 points from six games.
